AJC Family Day 2018
AJC Family Day is the highlight of the college's two-year calendar where AJCians (past and present) traditionally gather to celebrate and honour the AJ motto of "Non Mihi Solum". It was no different this year as staff, students, alumni and parents gathered to celebrate the AJ Family.
Staff and students put much effort into planning for the event and there were more than 70 stalls set up for the day, including two by the parent support group and alumni. The students' entrepreneurial dare was evident with many coming up with original and imaginative ideas for their stalls, experimenting with and applying the Economics concepts they have learnt to the real world in pricing and differentiating their products. It was clearly a success with the myriad of food, drinks, games, and services stalls on offer and many classes did brisk sales with the huge turnout. Staff and students also put up performances, charming the audience with their rendition of popular songs as well as snazzy dance items.
Also on display were the innovative works of AJC's invited guests from NTU's Garage@EEE. The NTU undergraduates used technology to design arcade games and developed an escape room which impressed the visitors to their booths.
This year's AJC Family Day was the first time that classes bid for stalls that they would like to set up and the bid amounts were pledged to charities as part of giving back to the community. Selected beneficiaries from Lions Befrienders and Blangah Rise Primary School were sponsored to enjoy a day of fun together with the college as well.
It was a memorable day for teachers and parents to interact meaningfully with their students and children in a fun, relaxed and carnival-like atmosphere and also for alumni who came back to indulge in school-time nostalgia!
