19th International Elementz Science Research Conference and Exhibition
The 19th International Elementz Science Research Conference and Exhibition was held on 11 April 2018, after judging was done on 9 April. A total of 94 project teams from 23 secondary schools, 6 Junior Colleges and IP schools and 4 overseas schools participated in the competition. 11 projects came from our twinning schools, No. 14 High School, Kunming, China, and Nguyen Tat Thanh High School, Hanoi, Vietnam. Of the 94 projects, 14 teams obtained Gold, 15 obtained Silver and 18 obtained Bronze. The detail of the results is published on the Elementz Conference web page.
Our Guest of Honour was Professor Sow Chorng Haur, Head of Physics Department, NUS, and our Chief Judge was Dr Shawn Lum, Senior Lecturer, Asian School of the Environment College of Science, NTU. The theme of the three-day programme is “Brave New World: Ideas that transform lives”. This is very much in line with the ministry’s direction in applied learning in secondary schools and the Institutes of Higher Learning to bridge the divide between theoretical knowledge and its relevance to the real world.
We are proud to share that our college has achieved the following awards:
- G2 team (Zhang Qi, Tan Zhi Cheng, Xu Yongren) - Gold
- F1 team (Ong Qi Xuan Samson, Jaron Lua Jie Long, Wong Kin Mun) - Bronze
- F3 team (Koh Mingyang) - Bronze
- G1 team (Mong Juin Hwaye) - Bronze
